UK Immigration Salary Thresholds Increase in 2024: What Employers Need to Know
On 4 April 2024, the Home Office increased the general salary threshold for Skilled Worker visas from £26,200 to £38,700. For new entrants, the threshold rose from £20,960 to £30,960.

Employers who sponsor overseas workers must ensure that all sponsored roles meet the new thresholds. Existing sponsored workers on salaries below the new thresholds must receive a pay rise when they next apply to extend or switch their visa.

The Shortage Occupation List has been replaced by a new Immigration Salary List (ISL). Roles on the ISL still benefit from a 20% discount on the applicable threshold.

We recommend that all businesses with sponsored workers conduct an immediate audit of their sponsored workforce to identify employees who will need a salary increase before their next visa application.
